Poster Abstract Acceptance: All poster abstracts have been accepted and notifications sent out within a few days of submission. Emails were sent to the Contact Author given on the submission form. If you have not received an acceptance and are not the contact author, please check with the contact author before contacting us.

Oral Presentations: All oral presentations have now been selected, invitations sent out, and acceptances/rejections been received. If you have not been contacted, your abstract has NOT been selected for oral presentation.

Workshop Abstract Submission - Submissions Now Closed

All those registering for HGM2001 are invited and encouraged to submit an abstract of original, current work for possible presentation at the meeting. Electronic submission of abstracts is available on the website and registrants are strongly encouraged to use this method for submission of abstracts.

  • On-line Submission Form - Submissions Closed
    • If you use the on-line submission system please submit only once, and please DO NOT send your abstract by other means, as it takes time to detect duplicates. Thank you.
  • Help Page for on-line submission
  • Problem not resolved using Help Page above? - Email abstracts.hgm2001@hgu.mrc.ac.uk
  • Invited Plenary and Symposium Speakers please submit here
  • The submission system has been tested with Netscape 3 and 4 on UNIX/PC/Mac systems, Internet Explorer 4/5 on PC, and even Lynx (though we do not recommend Lynx for form filling!), but we cannot test every combination of browser/version/platform. Internet Explorer 3 removes HTML tags from text boxes, so users of IE3 will have to use "Plain Text". Mac users may find problems with some browsers using the "Plain Text" option because of Mac line ends - in this case we recommend using "HTML" format, surrounding paragraphs with <P> and </P> tags as described on the Help Page.

All abstracts will be submitted to peer review by the Local Organising Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance. Accepted abstracts will be published in the meeting programme book and their authors invited to prepare posters at the meeting. Some authors will also be invited to make oral presentations of their work in the HGM2001 workshops. Abstracts submitted on-line may be placed on the HGM2001 web site at or near the time of the meeting- authors submitting on-line can choose not to permit on-line publishing.

Please note: Abstracts will be processed automatically for publication. It is therefore important that you check the spelling/formatting/etc. (provided by the "Preview/Check" button on the form) BEFORE submitting the abstract. There will be no manual editing/correcting of abstracts prior to compilation of the conference booklet or on-line publishing on the HGM2001 web site.

Posters: The area available for each poster is 1m x 1m. The method of mounting posters will be specified as soon as possible. Posters can be displayed throughout the meeting. Earliest/Latest times for displaying/removing posters will be made available as soon as possible.

For those with good reason not to submit on-line (or those without access to the internet) the abstract should be typed or printed within the box marked on the downloadable Abstract Form, together with a copy on disc in a standard word processing programme to the HGM2001 Office, MRC Human Genetics Unit, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh EH4 2XU, UK Fax: +44 (0)131 343 2620. Please indicate on your Abstract Form the name of the workshop that is most relevant to the work you wish to present.
